What happens when you submit a Reflection
- Your reflection text is saved to your account first, so it is never lost if the AI call fails.
- An automated privacy filter then removes or generalises obvious identifiers such as email addresses, phone numbers, postcodes, vehicle plates, long digit sequences, web links and social handles.
- The filtered text is sent to OpenAI, which returns a structured Perspective written for you.
- Firefly Realm's server calculates any XP and validates the suggested achievement. XP numbers are decided server-side and are independent of anything the model says.
What is sent to the AI provider
- The filtered text of this reflection.
- The optional energy level you chose.
- The system prompt that asks the model to write a calm, grounded Perspective.
What is not sent
- Your email address, password or account identifier.
- Your previous reflections or Perspectives.
- Your achievements, XP totals or quota counters.
- Any payment information.
Release entries are not sent to AI
Quick Journal and The Unsent Page pages are private. Opening, saving, editing, listing or deleting a Release entry never calls an AI provider. Feeling tags and intensity values are never sent externally. If you choose Turn into a Reflection draft, the text is held only in your browser (short-lived, scoped to your account) and is sent only after you review it and press Generate Perspective in the normal Reflection form. Help me untangle this is not implemented yet and cannot process your writing.
Limits of the privacy filter
Filtering is rules-based and imperfect. It cannot reliably detect all names, locations, employers or unusual identifiers, and it cannot redact context that only you would recognise. Please avoid entering anything you would not want externally processed.
AI output may be inaccurate
Perspectives are AI-generated suggestions, not statements of fact about you. They may misinterpret what you wrote or notice things that are not there. You remain the authority on your own experience. Firefly Realm is not therapy or crisis support.
Deleting an entry
You can delete individual reflections from your account at any time. Deleting a reflection also removes its Perspective, XP events and any achievement awarded for it. You can request full account deletion from the Profile screen.
Withdrawing consent
You can stop using the AI feature at any time by simply not generating new Perspectives. Future versions will allow saving reflections without generating a Perspective at all.
See the full Privacy Notice for processing details, legal bases and your rights.
